Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
I have been a cinema patron for over 35 years now in one form or another.  I have never seen an audience react to a film like they did in No Way Home. Sadly I cant go into too many details about the story of the film outside what you see in the trailers – Peter Parker breaks a spell by Doctor Strange which leads to villains old and new (and multiversesal) coming to the MCU to cause havoc – but needless to say on so many levels Spider-Man: No Way Home delivers. And yes there may be a lot of fan service involved but it never feels like it – in fact No Way Home weaves in its many characters and their narratives almost perfectly, never feeling too rushed or too stuffed.  It’s not perfect – the middle sags a bit but director Jon Watts pulls it back brilliantly (again no spoilers here) and then from that point onwards he knocks it out the park with surprises, shocks and a few tears along the way.  Probably Marvel’s best film since End Game.

Best Bit: A certain conversation in the lab

Cinema, Stream, Avoid: Cinema – go now to avoid spoilers.
