Quantum of Solace (2008) – A 007 Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The first thing to note is that Quantum of Solace is not a good Bond film.  Contrary to popular belief it’s not a bad film – it sub two hour run time is packed full of action from start to finish but this is less a 007 film, more ‘The Bond Identity ‘ (or Bland Identity) as the film tried (and fails) to become  a clone of the then successful Matt Damon franchise (even bringing on board it’s action team). It is interesting seeing Bond’s first true sequel but director Marc Forster is seriously hamstrung by the writers strike, being left with a weak story, a weak big bad and a string of barely connected action sequences. Again – it’s not a boring film but this is Bond as it’s least innovative and less essential.

Best Bit: The opening is better than I remembered
