Creepshow (Season 1) – A Quick Capsule TV Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
After almost 40 years away, horror streaming service Shudder has brought Creepshow back for a new generation, this time with horror icon Greg Nicotero serving as a producer and legendary writer Stephen King contributing one of the first stories.  Across the Season 1’s six episodes expect to see appearances from genre icons such as Tobin Bell, Giancarlo Esposito, Jeffrey Combs, Tricia Helfer, David Arquette and others as it becomes pretty obvious that the budget went mostly on the shows cast, as apposed to the FX, scale or other acting (from the non-guest star guest).  Yes at times Creepshow circa 2019 feels cheap, like a top shelf direct to VHS horror film you may have rented from your local video store in the 80’s.  But that’s not always a bad thing – it feels authentic and, what it lacks in budget, it makes up for with sone solid story telling and a lot of fun. Shudder continues to deliver on its originals and Creepshow is no exception… well worth a watch!

Best Bit: The final episodes are the strongest

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Stream (Shudder)
