The Tomorrow War (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The Tomorrow War is not a good movie.  From it’s cheap TV style Star Trek sets to it’s often shonky CGI and baffling story beats (so the world doesn’t want to join up to stop the world ending aliens? Okay) this direct to Amazon Prime sci-fi action film is, at times, a total mess.  It’s also quite good fun.  Why?  Well oddly not every film has to be epic, well made and slick… sometimes just sometimes I just want to switch off my brain and watch Star-lord beating up generic looking CGI aliens which, thankfully,  The Tomorrow War has in spades.  DO I care about the odd casting choices, uneven tone and laughable script? Nope.  Because for most of the film Star-lord is beating up generic looking CGI aliens.  And every now and then that is enough.  So brain off, beer in hand and enjoy it for what it is… yup you guessed it. Star-lord is beating up generic looking CGI aliens.  For two hours.
