Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels (1998) – A Rewatched Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Simply put I consider Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels to be one of the best British films of all time and for sure one of the best films by a debut director (British or otherwise).  The script sparkles, the music so perfectly placed and the performances are committed, genuine and believable.  It’s also a LOT of fun and remains infinitely re-watchable – whether it be iconic moments like the Italian Job inspired finale or the films highly quotable script.  Beyond all that the editing & direction scream out at you in the best way possible – this is a filmmaker making a statement and the message was received loud and clear. Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels is exciting, funny, endlessly quotable and stands up to multiple repeat viewings. What more could you ask?
