Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The original Wrong Turn from 2003 wasn’t a bad film – its modern take on the Hills Have Eyes sub genre was well done and had a few grizzly moments. The sequels certainly added nothing to the story so the fact that the original writer has now returned once again to reboot Wrong Turn just smacks of a creative team that has run out of ideas. It’s get worse because this is horror without the gore and put through a much softer lens where every decision seems to be made to not offend anyone – from the overly PC cast to reframing the film central ‘monsters’ – and predictably it ends up as an inert mess that fails to please anyone.
