Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
So it may not QUITE be on par with the superior Zombieland, but Love And Monsters does a pretty good job of delivering the fun narrative and quirks that the 2009 Woody Harrelson film is well remembered for. Lead Dylan O’Brien is charming in the role of hapless monsterpocalypse survivor Joel, who leaves the safety of his home to find his long lost love. The story twists and turns a bit, but pretty much every step you can guess. But ultimately it doesn’t matter – there’s a lot more to enjoy here not least the plus sized creatures of this monsterpocalypse (and a couple of well placed cameos). Love And Monsters once again show that when Netflix try to break away from the norm, good things can happen. Well good films… not quite sure any of us would want the monsterpocalypse to actually happen.
Best Bit: Monsterpocalypse. Yes I do love that word.
