Assimilate (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
If you ever wondered what a watered down teen YA version of the Invasion of The Body Snatchers story would look like on a sub CW budget then Assimilate may well be for you.  If you are NOT that one person in near 7 billion on this planet then I’d probably pass on this one.  Okay a little hash but really there’s little new here, especially when you consider there’s been three excellent takes on this story already (and one in The Invasion that I like far more than I should).  And adding a YA style twist and some very shonky CGI will do little to make you think otherwise.  Yup this story is rife for an update but this, sadly, isn’t it.

Best Bit: Found footage style take on the story (well for a few scenes at least)

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Avoid

If You Liked this Try: Invasion of The Body Snatchers (1978), Body Snatchers (1993), The Invasion
