Army of The Dead (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Say what you want about director Zack Snyder but his films are always uniquely OTT.  Be it the in your face slow motion, the fit inducing quick editing or the “Ive eaten a million jelly beans” visual overloading for better or worse you KNOW you are watching one of his films.  And for me that’s why Army of The Dead just doesn’t work.  It’s not Snyder ENOUGH. I wanted this to be unrestrained, unedited 110% Zack Snyder. Full on batshit mental with no studio interference, no excuses and buck loads of Netflix money to double down on the chaos.  Instead what we got was a generic Netflix film that could have been made by anyone. Snyder for me, blew his chance at redemption  Army of The Dead is a just about okay, so so #zombie action film that didn’t really do anything that well (other than the title sequence which was, to be fair, awesome).  The worst thing is that I don’t even hate Army of The Dead… I’m more just #badboysforlife angry at it. Snyder could have done anything (and needed to for this to work) but instead chose to just turn up.

Best Bit: The title sequence

Phil’s Quick Capsule ... Review: Fast Five is that rare thing…a good sequel that probably ends up being one the strongest films in the franchise so far.  Vin Diesel is in good form, Paul… http://ifttt.com/images/no_image_card.png
