Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
After last years excellent Palm Springs I did wonder if there’s any innovation left I’m the well trodden time travel genre. Thank god then for The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, a romantic comedy about two teens who live the same day repeatedly, enabling them to create the titular map and, of course, eventually fall in love (spoiler… well not really, you kinda guessed that right? ). There’s loads to enjoy here, especially Kathryn Newton who continues to be an actor to watch (last years Freaky especially was a super enjoyable film) supplying the film with endless charm. The film plays it smart by taking us straight into the story – no “What’s going on” plot line (similarly again to last years Palm Springs) and whilst it all ends up being a wee bit predictable, by the end you don’t really mind.
