Phil's Quick Capsule Review

Saved By The Bell 2020 (Season 1) – A Quick Capsule TV Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The reboot of cheesy 80’s kids show Saved By The Bell has more in common with Cobra Kai than you may think.  Rather than being a cheap knock off or retelling of the original (which many of us thought the Karate kid follow up would be), it takes the original show’s tropes and perspective and smartly subverts it leaving you with a show that fans of the original will love but that can also engage a whole new audience.  It’s genuinely great fun but whilst also telling a very powerful and timing story about white saviour, class prejudice and racism.  Not bad for what was a mostly cheesy 80’s pulp TV show…

Best Bit: The cast are superb
