Romero Day: Night Of The Living Dead (1990) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Tom Savini’s remake of the George A Romero’s iconic zombie film was never a favourite of mine growing up.  There was something about the character switch of Barbara that didn’t sit with me.  But rewatching almost 30 years later I can see why so many people rate this film – in truth it’s probably a better zombie film than the original (not a better film but better ‘zombie’ film) and certainly benefits from an increased pace and gore that lacked in the original.   I’m still not convinced that the Barbara switch works in the whole but I can see why Savini made that choice.  So not as smart as it thinks it is but a great pace, nice gore and some great tension makes this a solid remake.

Best Bit: Faster pace, great gore
