Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
2017’s Wonder Woman was that rare DCEU film… in that it didn’t totally suck.  3 years later (and much delayed) Wonder Woman 1984 returns solving some of the issues of the original film (it lacks too much Zack Snyder influence) yet heaping a load of new ones onto it’s excessive two hour thirty min run time.  No fault of the cast here – Gadot is perfect in the titular role as always and Pascal and Wiig make great foils for the Amazonian.  But the film takes a LONG time to get going (save for the opening there’s zero action for over an hour) and whilst the story is more interesting than most, it’s still padded beyond being reasonable and the filmmakers could have easily trimmed a lot of the fat for a leaner and better film. So better than most DCEU but still a huge step from most Marvel films.

Best Bit:  Actually probably the story
