The Karate Kid (1984) – A Hall of Fame Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Call me insane but personally I’ve always been a bigger fan of The Karate Kid than Rocky. Yes I know sacrilege for many but I just always connected with the 80’s karate movie just that little bit more that Stallone’s epic boxing drama.  36 years on The Karate Kid still holds up well – it’s charming, funny and full of drama.  The characters land and the central relations between Daniel and Miyagi is totally believable.  Okay so nobody can actually DO karate but you almost don’t care.  Like Jaws isn’t about sharks ( rum (c) Mark Kermode) so The Karate Kid isn’t about Karate.  A worthy Hall of Fame entry!
