Red Dwarf: The Promised Land (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Red Dwarf: The Promised Land (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Red Dwarf: The Promised Land is yet another revisit to the world of Red Dwarf, now over 30 years on since its original BBC produced season.  Red Dwarf has always worked best as a mix of hard sci-fi and silly comedy and whilst the original Dave mini series Return To Earth was a bit ropey the later rebooted seasons found it’s way and delivered some of the better episodes of the last 15+ years.  So now as a feature length episode does The Promised Land work? Well kinda.  Look the cast still deliver, despite their ageing years, and the script has more than few laugh out loud moments but as a feature length episode it feels a bit padded and the cat species sub plot never really delivers as well as it should.  So best of Dwarf? No but solid and funny… pretty much and proves the show still has a future.

Best Bit: Cat flap

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Stream (Dave)

If You Liked this Try: Red Dwarf (TV), Firefly, The Orville
