The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time (2018) – A Quick Capsule Review

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
By all conventional (and much unconventional ) wisdom The Last Sharknado is a terrible film. The effects feel cheaper than ever, the acting often hits new lows (you forget that Tara Reid could actually act once) and the story could have been written on the back of a postage stamp that was already full of the plots for the previous Sharknado movies.  Yet I enjoyed the hell out of it, right up until it seems to run out of steam a bit in the last act.  You know what you are getting here and you either go along for the ride or check out before even starting.  Last Sharknado… yeah it’s probably about time but what a fun ride it’s been

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Global Swarming… Yup it’s back and this time it’s travelling across the Globe. It’s as insane as you’d imagine and oddly the rather bad Katie Price cameo isn’t the worst acting in it (Tara Reid who once shone in American Pie is beyond phoning it in these days).  Yup each country has it’s own unique set of cameos as the film goes from one set piece to the next, in one country to the next, with zero logic or story effort.  But who cares when it’s this fun. And it IS fun, probably the fact the most fun since the second Sharkndao film all those years ago.  It wont convert new fans for sure but as a piece of forgettable fun the Sharknado films always deliver.

Phil’s Top 5… Sharknado Films

Phil’s Top 5… Sharknado Films

Other Cr*p Top 5

Each week Phil, from Phil’s Quick Capsule Review, takes a look at a different movie or TV related Top Five.  This time out: Sharknado Films!

5 – Sharknado: The 4th Awakens
The weakest Sharknado as the film series starts to run low on ideas (okay to be fair it never had that many to begin with) and instead throws in a million different Nado’s.

4 -Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
Introducing the Hoff, going into space… it’s fair to say that the series really, er, jumped the Shark here. Still loads to enjoy obviously but the joke’s starting to run a little bit thin

3 -Sharknado
The original Sharknado.  Poor effects, tiny budget, silly walk on cameos and zero sense.  A Phenomenon was started.

2 – Sharknado 5: Global Swarming
Back to it’s most fun, Global Swarming jumps from country to country, city to city and plot twist to plot twist to make one of the most insane entries yet.

1 – Sharknado 2: The Second One
Taking everything that worked about the original and dialling it up to 11, The Second One added more cameos, more Sharks and more OTT action.  It’s a total blast.

Yup it’s back and this time it’s travelling across the Globe.
