‘Phil’s Quick Capsule Review’ (a nod to legendary comedian Bill Hicks who coined the phrase when he reviewed ‘Piece Of Shit’ movie Basic Instinct)… where a perfect 10 is rarer than a rain free British summer!

In these rather strange and troubling times we are living in at the moment it is of course very easy to get depressed and down in the dumps. Many of us are naturally struggling to fill the time in the absence of being able to do normal things – like visit family and friends, go to the pubs, restaurants, theatres or cinemas. So what to do to stave off the COVID19 blues? Some people are playing board games, some are listening to music, others are on their play stations or Xboxes.
However if you are like me (a notoriously obsessed film geek) you may be raiding your dvd/blu ray collection or trawling though Netflix and Amazon Prime in search of some thing to watch. So to help you all out I have compiled a few lists of films and box sets to see you though the coming weeks.
Next Up: The Star Wars films (no derogatory comments please -I’ll have you all know I’m v sensitive when it comes to these films -yes even the prequels! – lol)
Watch in following order:
Episode 1 The Phantom Menace
Episode 2: Attack Of The Clones
Episode 3: Revenge Of The Sith

I’ll be back with more lists to help get you through the current Film and new release shortage!
Will Strong from Grosse Point Geek takes a look at his favourite scenes from EACH of The Star Wars Movies…
The Phantom Menace: The Duel Of The Fates – Qui Gon and Obi Wan face off against Darth Maul in the best lightsabre fight of whole series
Attack Of The Clones: The Arena battle – Anakin, Padme, Obi Wan and an entire squadron of Jedi Knights put the smack down on Count Dooku’s droid army and a whole horde of gun toting insect thing’s.
Revenge Of The Sith: Anakin vs Obi Wan/Palpatine vs Yoda in there final show downs.
Rogue One: The return of Darth Vader. In the nick of time Jynn (Felicity Jones) and Cassian (Diego Luna) finally manage to upload the stolen Death Star Plans to the Rebel Alliance. However a certain Dark Lord Of The Sith makes a very unwelcome appearance on the rebel blockade runner and proceeds to effortlessly force choke and scythe his way through a rapidly retreating and very panicked bunch of rebel soldiers. One of the most violent scenes in all of the Star Wars films, almost shocking in its intensity and all the more brilliant for it – this was one for the fans and my word its good.
Star Wars A New Hope : The chasm leap. Having lost Han and Chewie, Luke and Leia are running for their lives and suddenly find themselves trapped before a huge chasm in the Death Star – all whilst being pursued by a load of pissed off storm troopers who are closing in fast – but just as they think all is lost Luke finds a rope and grappling hook on his utility belt, throws it over a nearby beam, grabs Leia and swings them both to safety – awesome.
The Empire Strikes Back: Chewbacca and Han Solo vs the Star Destroyers. After barely escaping the Empires clutches on Hoth, Han, Chewie, Leia and C3PO are on the run in a hilariously malfunctioning Millennium Falcon. In what is still one of the most amazing action sequences in all the Star Wars films – Han manages throw off the pursuing imperial fleet by flying the Falcon in all manner of death defying loop the loops, goes hell for leather at breakneck speed straight at two massive Star Destroyers and then if that wasn’t enough manages to deliberately fly into a gigantic asteroid field (“they’d be crazy to follow us”).
Return Of The Jedi: The Sail barge scrap. Sentenced to death on Tatooine by Jabba The Hut – Luke, Han and Chewie are about to fed to the Sarlaac (“slowly digested over a thousand years”). Walking the plank and about to jump to his doom, Luke gives a signal to Artoo, does a handy back flip, catches his lightsabre mid air and proceeds to give Jabba’s minions a right arse kicking – all this played out to John Williams classic Star Wars theme tune – priceless.
The Force Awakens: Kylo Ren Vs Rey. Seemingly victorious after badly wounding Finn (John Boyega) and knocking him for six – Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) goes to retrieve the fallen Skywalker lightsabre – but hang on a moment – here comes Rey (Daisy Ridley) who summons her inner Jedi, uses the force to grab it first and takes on Ren in a do or die fight to the death.
