Pitch Perfect 3 – A Quick Capsule Review

Pitch Perfect 3 – A Quick Capsule Review

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
I liked the first two Pitch Perfect films.  They were charming, funny and had a good heart.  Pitch Perfect 3 pretty much throws most of that aside for an odd story that doesn’t really do much to advance the characters as it ups the action (in a franchise that was know for it’s action, right?) and the silly sub plots.  It’s not terrible but it’s the classic Run-Out-Of-Ideas narrative that throws everything at teh screen in the hope something will work.  Shame as teh franchise deserved better,

Best Bit: Rebel Wilson is having fun

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Acca-Brillinat, Pitch Perfect 2 delivers the same humour, charm and insanity as the first film with an added dose of brilliance with an acapella flavoured rap battle.  Yes we’ve seen it before and som of the sub plots don’t really pay off but man this was by far the funniest film I’ve seen this year so far…

Best Bit: Acapella Face Off

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
I like musicals.  I like Anna Kendrick.  I even love Stardust which this film shares a few stylistic choices with.  So together this should be a winni… oh wait.  It’s got Meryl Streep? Oh.  AND Johnny Depp playing a strange peadofilic singing wolf?  Er… and James Cordon as the lead man?  And just like that it fell apart.   Which is a shame because the idea behind Into The Woods is great, it’s just a shame that the execution is so hamfisted and obviously.    One to miss.

Best Bit: Anna Kendrick is adorable.  As always.
