Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Look I get what Isle of Dogs was trying to do. It’s a pretty typically quirky Wes Anderson film after all. But it just didn’t connect with me at all. Yes technically it’s very clever and the artistry in the film is first rate (as are the amazing voice cast) but it also seems to be trying a little bit too hard for it’s own good. Of course Wes Anderson fans will love it (I mean don’t they always) but for everyone else (and especially me) it’s just a little too much whimsy for me to stomach.
Best Bit: The animation is first class
Buy, Stream, Avoid: Avoid
