Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Light Of My Life isn’t a fun film to watch.  It’s also not one that delivers much pace or narrative drive.  This is a film about the relationship between a father and his daughter in a post-apocalyptic world where children don’t seem to exist.  You can mostly work out what will happen from the start but its less about the story and more about the relationships and writer/director/star Casey Affleck does a good job making this film feel very real.  For sure it could have been shorter or a little pacier but fans of films like The Road will have a lot to enjoy here.

Best Bit: The opening shot

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Sometimes you watch a film and just ‘get’ why people rate it.  The heart, the performances, the direction is all top notch.  Yet… for some reason whilst you enjoy it, it does grab you in the same way and ultimately you are left feeling that it was just ‘good’. For me Leave No Trace is one of those films. It could be it’s pace or ultimately predictable ending, but that leap from good to ‘great’ just wasn’t there.  So for sure this is a recommendation as this film has had strong reviews across the board just be aware it may end up not being ‘your thing’.
