Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
A slow build, a brutal narrative, a unique location and a bundle of stand out directorial moments makes Revenge a real must see. In the tradition of the 70’s and 80’s female revenge films, with a dash of grindhouse, Revenge does what it says on the tin without ever feeling exploitative of it’s subject matter. But when the revenge starts it’s bloody and brutal with a final sequence that may rank up there with some of my favourite cinematic moments of this year (and maybe even decade). Like RAW last year it just shows that European independent horror has never been better.
Best Bit: The end sequence is insane
