The How To Train Your Dragon franchise holds a special place in my heart, having watched ( and very much enjoyed) the films and TV show with my daughter. This final episode of the series is an emotional, funny and action packed send off that ties up the story nicely but leaves still you wanting (wishing) for more. Add to that some stunning animation, a great voice cast (thankfully minus the rather unlikeable TJ Miller) and a pacy script… and, well, this really is mainstream animated cinema at it’s most enjoyable. A worthy three-qual.

Best Bit: Dragon courtship

I‘m a late convert to the HTTYD franchise having only just seen the first two films with my daughter. The fact she has had these on repeat (along with the equally good TV Show) is credit to the appeal these movie shave. Adventure, romance, action and loss… it deals with them all keeping boys and girls (as well as mums and dads) massively entertained. In short: cracking fun.

Best Bit: The Final rescue!
