Come To Daddy (2019) – A Quick Capsule Review

Come To Daddy (2019) – A Quick Capsule Review

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Come To Daddy isn’t the film I expected. Starting as a family drama that sees a privileged man-child arrives at the remote coastal cabin of his estranged father, reuniting after 30 years,  it isn’t long before it descends into something quite different.  And much, much more fun.  In fact Come To Daddy, with a great cast including Elijah Wood, Stephen McHattie & Michael Smiley, was a pleasant surprise.  Obviously shot for a smaller budget, this independent film throws in surprises and shocks all over the place.  Really enjoyed this one.  Most entertaining.

Best Bit: Oh. THAT.

If You Liked this Try: Color Out of Space, Guns Akimbo, Kill List

Color Out of Space (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Color Out of Space (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Quick Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
What happens if you mix maverick director Richard Stanley, the works of HP Lovecraft and a fully unleashed Nicolas Cage.  Well you get Color Out of Space… a film that competes with 2018’s Mandy for Cage’s most dialled up to 11 film! It’s honestly insane… but all in a good way as it mixes elements from The Thing, Society, Mandy and many more along the way in what at times seem’s like a bets of horror!  Stanley has been hit and miss but here, obviously allowed the freedom to deliver his film, once again shows why he was once considered to be a filmmaker to watch. Color Out of Space won’t be for every one but I really enjoyed it.

Best Bit: The building insanity

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Stream
