Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The Addams Family isn’t perfect but it certainly tries hard and, whilst every joke doesn’t land, just enough do to make this a pretty diverting and often fun 90 minutes.  A great voice cast (Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Bette Midler & Finn Wolfhard) with some witty Tim Burton/ Laika inspired animation help the film along and for sure I was never bored, even if the film does little better or different than the original live action movies.  So a fun distraction for sure but hardly essential viewing.

Best Bit: School.

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
For modern day Tim Burton Big Eyes is something of a masterpiece.  The problem is considering, his last film was the utter pile of rubbish Dark Shadows and before that the misjudged Alice In Wonderland remake, that’s not saying much.  Playing more like his earlier ‘straight film’ Big Fish, this is Burton reining in all his eccentricities with not a Johnny Depp or Bonham-Carter in site (thankfully).  Sadly though, with those bits stripped out, there isn’t much left.  Okay some good performances and a modernly interesting story but overall it’s just a bit of a slog.

Best Bit: Adams & Waltz are very good
