Free Guy (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
After many COVID related delays, Ryan Reynold’s video game set Free Guy finally arrives on the big screen. Was it worth it?  Actually for the most part yes –   Free Guy is a charming, witty (but never THAT funny), smart and action packed big screen movie that takes themes from films like They Live and Ready Player One and smashes them together to make a film that is just about crazy enough to get over it’s over long run time and predicable nature.  Add in one of THE best cameo/jokes in recent film history and (as usual) a strong performance by Ryan Reynolds (and equally strong putting by Jodie Comer) and you have one of Summer 2021’s more enjoyable romps.

Best Bit: THAT joke.

Cinema, Stream, Avoid: Stream

If You Liked this Try: They Live, Ready Player One, Deadpool
