The Forever Purge (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The original Purge was a solid take on the home invasion story which promised there was a lot more fun to be had with the wider mythology.   The sequels have been a mixed bag for sure, but now we have The Forever Purge – the film being promised as the conclusion to the Purge story.  I’ll believe that when I see it.   Either-way The Forever Purge is pretty much on par with what you’ve come to expect from this franchise, even if it is stepping much more firmly into action film territory than horror these days.  Adding a political spin to proceedings  (you cant help but look at this as a shot across the bow for Trump politics) and turning the tables on immigration it all sounded great on paper… challenge in in reality it just feels a bit old hat.  America has moved on from Trump, the filmmakers here haven’t.  Outside of this it moves at a reasonable pace, has a few nice beats and is never dull but you cant help but feel that the Purge series limps across the finish line here rather than the explosive dash we all hoped for.
