Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The first Peter Rabbit films wasn’t my favourite.  Whilst it had a few funny moments and a decent cast, overall it was less than the sum of its parts.  Sure it passed the time but I didn’t (and still wouldn’t)  rush to see it again.  BUT with a 11 year old to entertain (who WAS a fan of the first film) we headed back to cinemas to watch this belated sequel. And guess what… I’m equally not in a rush to see it again. But Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway IS a better film, one that seems to knowingly be aware of  a lot of the original’s issues and, best of all,  isn’t afraid to mock them (James Corden’s annoying voice being one!) .  Beyond this the new cast are good (Lennie James especially) , the story is an improvement overall and it’s funny enough.  Film of the year? No.  But it’s still enjoyable none the less.

Best Bit: The robbery!

Cinema, Stream, Avoid: Cinema (Look its a streaming film for sure but support cinemas!)

If You Liked this Try: Peter Rabbit, Stuart Little, Christopher Robin, Paddington

6 out of 10 stars
