The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) – A Quick Capsule TV Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
The second official MCU TV show is a much different experience to WandaVision.  More traditional, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier feels more like a direct sequel, in tone at least, to Captain America: The Winter Soldier (still Marvel’s best work) – a dark, boarding and often violent look at the world post ‘The Blip’.  It deals with large themes (how does the world cope with the ‘returnees’, what is a ‘terrorist’) and feels very much of the ‘now’ and for its Super Solider and Super Hero moments this Marvel at its most grounded, with some impressive action work that feels more cinematic than you would expect.  The cast are obviously brilliant but special notice goes to Wyatt Russell who is a real stand out as the troubled  ‘The New Capt’.  The last episode falters (in truth the series needed a further episode to explore it’s themes better) but if Marvel can continue to crank out it’s TV work to this level of polish that Disney Plus subscription will quickly seem like even better value…

Best Bit: It get’s pretty dark.
