Masters of the Universe (1987) – A Rewatched Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Let’s get this out there: Masters of the Universe is a TERRIBLE adaptation of the He-Man story.  It just isn’t THAT story.  In fact many people would say it’s a terrible film overall (it’s write ups and scores are very poor) but actually I’ve got real soft spot for this Gary Goddard directed/ Dolph Lundgren starring sci-fi action ‘epic’.  It’s flawed for sure but it’s just so silly, so crazy and so fun that I find myself going back to it every few years and still enjoying it the hell out of it. Lundgren is well cast as He-Man and Frank Langella is having a ball as his arch-enemy Skeletor.  It’s also another reminder that James Tolkan was in almost every 80’s film I loved.  So hated by most but they are, of course, very wrong.

Best Bit: Who knows! The whole thing is crazy but probably Frank Langella as Skeletor
