Saw (2004) – A Hall Of Fame Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Years on James Wan’s Saw remains as groundbreaking as it was the first time I watched it – a paired down, stripped back, one location horror that does more with it’s simple premise and cast than the thousands of imitators and sequels have managed since.   And whilst the sequels may have taken the mythos off the film and stitched it beyond credibility, the simplicity of the original’s premise and the impact of its big twist has stayed with me years later.  I truly rate Saw as one of the best horrors of the 21st century and a key text for genre filmmakers looking to make a film on a limited budget. A worth hall of fame entry…
