Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition (2016) – A Snyder Cut Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
So the film that critics seem to hate.  Is it really as bad as everyone has said?  Well frankly no.  Okay so BVS is quite choppy in terms of story (it feels to start no scene lasts longer than 30 seconds) but the action is pretty good (even great at times) up to and until the final standard end CGI bit which just didn’t work, as you’d probably predict from the trailer.  The extended Cut really brings the film together better, with more time to breathe. BUT Wonder Woman was really well done and Ben Affleck kills it as Batman. Genuinely the best big screen version of Batman we have had – the movement, the tools, the way he fights.  He’s a batman for the modern era – brutal, uncompromising and at time psychotic and it works. Also when the final Superman vs Batman smackdown does happen it feels real. It works. It makes what should be a given (i.e. Superman destroying Batman) actually quite surprising. Yes so Cavill is dull but then Superman as a character is pretty dull.  I like Man Of Steel the first time (but a LOT less the second), hated Watchman and pretty much everything Snider has done since Dawn Of The Dead.  BUT this film no way deserves the critically mauling it had.  I’d say this is a must watch so people can make up their own minds.
