All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
All The Boys Love Mandy Lane is a bit of an odd beast. On one hand it’s a pretty conventional horror thriller – group of teens go off to have sex, get drunk and do drugs in a remote location. On the other is has aspirations to grow past its genre tappings and be something more, something that is subversive and different all together.  And thats kinda the issue because as much as it tried to be an elevated version of my expectations, the films two disparate ideas don’t really work together leading to an ending that probably looked smart on paper but never feels earned.  That said as a slasher horror it works pretty well, with Amber Heard being a standout.  So less than the sum of it parts (or sum of it’s aspirations) but still works well enough to recommend. Just don’t expect too much.
