Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Sight & Sound’s Top 35 Best Films of 2020, Rocks is a heart wrenching look at a teenage girl being slowly broken down by society as she struggles to look after her brother after her mother walks aways. It’s also brilliantly done… Sarah Gavron’s direction draws out some incredible, natural feeling performances from its young and mostly inexperienced cast including lead Bukky Bakray who is incredible in the titular role. Rocks cuts deep into the issues faced by inner city families and carves it self out as a must see film regardless of your tastes.
Best Bit: Bukky Bakray is brilliant
