Boss Level (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
I’ve been a massive fan of Frank Grillo for years.  From his memorable turn in the Captain America: The Winter Soldier to his short lived by well regarded Tv show Kingdom, Grillo is a a gruff bad ass whose presence always manages to make a film better. So saddled with leading man duties, a bunch of ‘Oh It’s Them’ cast members and the always troublesome Mel Gibson, can Grillo make the high concept Boss Level work? In short: Yup.  Boss Level is what happens when a director like Joe Carnahan takes on Groundhog Day… a load of swear words, head choppings and oodles of violence.  It’s a real hoot and probably much more fun than it deserves to be. Flawed? Yup but there’s enough here that, by the end,  you kinda ignore them.

Best Bit: Grillo kicks ass.  As always.
