The Tax Collector (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
David Ayer has had an interesting career to date – Suicide Squad had issues, Fury was interesting enough but hardly great and End Of Watch was another okay entry.  But he’s yet to set the world alight. Sadly The Tax Collector wont change that opinion.  Oddly the film is at its most interesting in the first 45 minutes as LaBeouf & Soto trawl the Latino gangs collecting money for an unseen overlord.  When it turns into a typical Ayer film it falls apart – neither the budget, filming limitations or messy direction do it any favours and quickly I lost interest.  It’s a shame as maybe there’s a good film here but sadly The Tax Collector just isn’t it.

Best Bit: Oddly LaBeouf is very good

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Avoid

If You Liked this Try: Suicide Squad, End Of Watch, Fury
