Console Wars (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Console Wars takes a closer look at the early days of video games – the rise and (in Sega’s case fall) of the three biggest names in video game history.  Based on a book of the same name, this hour and a half documentary doesn’t even scratch the surface of the full (and fascinating) story of these companies and times.  In fact, at best, it works as a well made companion piece to the recent and superior Netflix High Score documentary series.   It’s such a fascinating story that, for once, you kinda end up wishing it was twice as long as the the saga of Nintendo, Sega and Sony plays out.  So surface for sure but interesting none the less.
