Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
It’s pretty hard to do anything new in the Zombie genre. After all from Romero’s cult classics through to reinventions like 28 Days and now The Walking Dead, zombies have gone from indie under the counter horror fair to the mainstream and beyond. So it’s fair to say then that #Alive doesn’t do much new. But that doesn’t stop it from being a fun, well crafted and intimate horror that’s kinda a nice counter point to other South Korean zombie films like the much larger and showier Train To Busan. #Alive has a charming cast that you care about, used its limited budget well and creates a believable world. What more could you ask for?
