Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Terrible title aside, Crown Vic is a passable cop thriller that is very much inspired by the superior Denzel Washington film Training Day (itself a film that hasn’t aged THAT well). That’s not to say there isn’t merit in this thriller… there is – Jane is excellent as the grizzled veteran cop and the ‘ride along’ feel of the movie is gripping at first. But as the film falls more and more into the tropes of the corrupt cop & action film thrillers we’ve seen a hundred times before it looses what actually made it pretty compelling to start. It also takes forever to get to its inevitable denouement. So Crown Vic will happily pass a night but when it comes to chatting down the pub a week later you’ll probably already forget you’ve seen it.
Best Bit: Jane is excellant
