The Outpost (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Director Rod Lurie assembles a cast that includes Scott Eastwood, Caleb Landry Jones and Orlando Bloom to retell the bloody story of the Battle of Kamdesh where a Taliban army launched a deadly assault on an American station in Afghanistan.  Whilst The Outpost may lack the polish of recent war movies like 1917 and 12 Strong, there’s a lot to be said for the more budget led stripped down personal approach Lurie takes here where, often, you are right next to the soldiers as they take fire, die and try to survive.  Its brutal and compelling stuff, especially as the film trie to stay close to its story rather than over Hollywooding what you see.  Well worth a watch.

Best Bit: Did they just… oh yeah.
