Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Snowpiercer (the film) was director Bong’s groundbreaking sci-fi adaptation starring Captain America himself Chris Evans that, for the most part, was super well received. Now seven years later Snowpiercer arrives on Network TV with Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly in the central role. Does it work stretched out over ten episodes? Well kinda. Look Snowpiercer has shown from its own multiple stories and graphic novels that there’s lots of ideas that can be adapted and developed here and for sure when the first season ends the show is in a much more interesting place. But there’s padding along the way and, at times, the show creeks under its own budget restrictions. The cast are solid (Steven Ogg is especially stand out as always) but hearing Sean Bean will join the cast in Season 2 get’s me much more excited for what lies ahead.
