Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo unsurprisingly charts the rise of the legendary actor Danny Trejo but this isn’t a fluff piece, instead diving deep into his shady past and how that, ultimately, led him to a series of supporting roles in Hollywood. Trejo is a remarkable character and seems to have remained very level headed despite the fame he’s found in later life.  In fact the film focuses heavily on his out-reach work with convicts that trod a very similar route to how he started.  It’s fascinating stuff and you end up with even more appreciation for a man who defines the term icon.  A must watch.
