Flash Gordon (1980) – A Hall of Fame Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Star Wars this isn’t. Bondage, torture and camp of the highest order – Flash Gordon was a pop-rock-psychedelic trip of a movie that captured the hearts of a generation and still remains an endearing sci-fi spectacle all these years later.  Okay so yes it’s cheap, yes it’s silly and yes it makes totally no sense but honestly I just didn’t (and probably still don’t) care!  It’s such a spectacle – from hawk men to cyborgs, lasers to pit fights all dressed in some of the most trippy costumes and production design probably not seen on this level until The Fifth Element.  It remains a classic and one of my personal favourite films of all time.
