Phil's Quick Capsule Review

Arkansas (2020) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
It’s like the 90’s again…. you know when every other film was a knock off of Pulp Fiction.  Split narratives, witty knowing dialogue, wannabe super cool characters… be it Things to Do In Denver or 2 Days In The Valley it felt like every other week a new Tarantino like (or lite) film came out. Well here we go again – this time with Arkansas, a Dixie mafia set mid south crime drama that has  a split narrative, witty knowing dialogue and wannabe super cool characters all wrapped round a story of drugs, death and people being movie cool.  Okay so it’s not terrible and has a few nice moments (and a great cast) but for a two hour film it felt like a mini series with it’s slow pace and pretty simple story.  But if you are in need of a Pulp Fiction like movie because you’ve watched Pulp Fiction far too many times Arkansas can just about fill a gap.

Best Bit: Great cast

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Stream

If You Liked this Try: 2 Days In The Valley, U-Turn, Things To Do in Denver When You Are Dead, Pulp Fiction

5 out of 10 stars
