Ocean’s 11 (2001) – A Rewatched Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Ocean’s 11 is a cracking film and over 19 years later still holds up as one of the best heist movies ever made.  The magic here is in the cast, led by Clooney at his most charming but don’t overlook just how good Pitt is as Oceans sidekick and foil. Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia Elliott Gould, Carl Reiner… everyone’;s bringing their ‘A’ game. Okay so not ALL the cast deliver (What accent is Don Cheadle doing? Paging Dick Van Dyke…) but together they are pure dynamite.  Beyond that you have a great twisting plot, gorgeous cinematography (probably some of the best we’ve seen for Vegas) and Sodenberg at his most confident.  Yup it’s pure escapism but when it’s this much fun who cares?

Best Bit: The cast

Worth Rewatching: Hell yes.

If You Liked this Try: Oceans 11 (1960), Oceans 13, Inside Man
