Marriage Story (2019) – A Quick Capsule Review

Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Netflix Originals end up in two camps… the award films (see Roma, The Irishman) and the oh it’s going to loose money so let’s dump it on Netflix (see Cloverfield: Paradox, Annihilation).  Okay thats not STRICTLY true but thankfully Marriage Story very much sits in the former category – bigs stars, big named director and a bundle of award wins and nominations.  And to be fair Marriage Story deserves everyone of them – it’s a stunning film but not one that has a bucket o laughs in it. Marriage Story is a hard watch for sure but it rewards your dedication and delivers three of 2019’s bets performances.

Best Bit: Driver & Johansson deserve their plaudits.

Buy, Stream, Avoid: Stream (Netflix)

If You Liked this Try: Lost in Translation, The Irishman, Uncut Gems

8 out of 10 stars
