Grosse Point Geek – Ant-Man & The Wasp (2018)
Grosse Point Geek casts his critical eye over the latest (some sometimes greatest) releases… this time out: Ant-Man & The Wasp
Plot in a nutshell: After the events of Captain America Civil War – Scott Lang aka Antman (Paul Rudd) is coming to the end of a 2 year house arrest and trying to start up a security business with his daft ex-jailbird mate Luis (Michael Pena), meanwhile, Hope and Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are on the run from the authorities and trying to locate Pym’s long lost wife (Michelle Pfeiffer) who disappeared 30 years ago into the Quantum Realm.
What worked: Its extremely funny, in particular all the scenes featuring Michael Pena’s Luis are hilarious plus Paul Rudd is again endearingly goofy as Lang. Lilly and Douglas are also really good and the action zips along at a rare old pace with great direction from returning helmer Peyton Reed.
What could have been better: The principal villain (Ghost) is very weak plus the plot is gossamer thin.
Best scene: The truth serum bit – very funny – classic MCU comedy gold
Summary Review: The villain should have been so much better and the plot is too simple but its so much great fun throughout and the cast are that good that it really doesnt matter all that much and I for one am certainly looking forward to seeing seeing all these characters return in next years Avengers 4
