Phil’s Top 5… Worst Best Picture Oscar Winners

Each week Phil, from Phil’s Quick Capsule Review, takes a look at a different movie or TV related Top Five.  This time out: Worst Best Picture Oscar Winners

Close but no cigar: Argo,  Forrest Gump, The King’s Speech, Gladiator

5 – Titanic (1997)
Titanic
is okay.  It’s long for sure, the effects have aged badly and it’s badly scripted. But it still holds a charm. Just not the kinda charm that beats  L.A. Confidential, The Full Monty or Good Will Hunting

4 – The Artist (2011)
The Artist
is fine. But 7 years after it won the Best Picture Oscar few remember the film. Least me.

3 – Dances With Wolves (1990)
This beat Goodfellas.  I need say no more.

2 – Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
It’s not that Driving Miss Daisy is bad its just not an Academy Award winning film. It also beat the far superior Dead Poets Society

1 – The English Patient (1996)
I hated The English Patient.  It was long, boring and overly worthy.  Years later I remember hardly a frame about it other than falling asleep numerous times.
