Must Watch: Firefly (2002-2003)

Each month we take a look at a TV show that DEMANDS to be Binge Watched.

Why? Short lived for sure, Firefly was never given a chance to succeed by Fox.  Episodes screened out of order, often at odd times of the day and with very little fan fare it never even finished it’s initial run before being canned.  Thankfully cult shows like Firefly live on their fan base and over 15 years since it’s initial run the passion, enjoyment and following of this iconic show has grown and grown.  A feature film followed but sadly the fans, despite crying out for it, didn’t show up and the franchise died on screen for a final time.

You cant help but think if Fox had given it a chance the show could have been huge.  The writing was first class, the characters real and the effects still hold up.  It was a show that deserved better.  Firefly lives on at conventions, in graphic novels and with constant rumours of revival but like many shows before it lives on most in the hearts of those that watched it.  Shiny.

How Many Episodes? 14 Episodes (1 Season) & A film

Best Moment? Opening episode – The torture scene with Mal and Wash at Niska’s station with Mal bothering Wash just so he would stay alive.

Where: Hulu, Amazon, Itunes
