Phil’s Top 5… Retired Actors

Each week Phil, from Phil’s Quick Capsule Review, takes a look at a different movie or TV related Top Five.  This time out: Top 5 Retired Actors!

Close but no cigar:  Phoebe Cates,  Bridget Fonda, Sidney Poitier

5 – Goldie Hawn
Hawn was huge in the 80’s and early 90’s but for the most part has taken a back seat since the 2000’s.  It’s a shame because Hawn was one of the best romantic leads of her generation.

4 – Gene Hackman
French Connection. Unforgiven. Get Shorty. Crimson Tide. Superman. The list goes on. And On. And On. And On.

3 – Rick Moranis
Moranis was a great actor who often shone in the geeky nerd role before it become popular.  From Little Shop Of Horrors and Honey I Shrunk series, he was an icon of 80’s cinema. Retired for personal reasons.

2 – Sean Connery
It’s Bond.  THE Bond.  Connery retired over 10 years ago (despite a voiceover for an animated film in 2012) but his impact on cinema is still prevalent even today.  An icon for every modern generation and much missed.

1 – Jack Nicholson
From One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest to A Few Good Men, Nicholson remains one of the most recognisable actors in Hollywood. A legend with an near unmatched CV of films to his name.
