Phil’s Quick Capsule Review:
Ang Lee’s Hulk wasn’t a bad movie. It just wasn’t the action movie everyone expected or, for that matter, wanted. Now, some five years later, The Hulk is back with a new cast, new director and this time back under the guidance of creators Marvel studios who also produced the this years simply awesome Iron Man movie. The good news is not only is The Incredible Hulk a massive step up from it’s previous incarnation but it’s also a damn good movie to boot full of top notch action, superb effects and a believable story played out by a superb cast.
Transporter 2 director Louis Leterrier handles the action well and, when the inevitable and somewhat predictable big monster smack down arrives, it is at least clear, well shot and easy to follow (unlike the original Hulk movie). And whilst The Incredible Hulk doesn’t reach the heights of this years Iron Man in truth they are both well acted, well made Superhero movies. In fact one of the only things that sets Hulk apart from Iron Man is that, whatever way it’s played, central character Bruce Banner is still not as fun, likeable or watchable as rouge Tony Stark.
Best Bit: Major Geek moment but Hulk gives Stan Lee his best Marvel movie cameo yet.
